Víctor Pedra

Víctor Pedra

Víctor Pedra was born in Barcelona in 1955.

Between 1975 and 1980 he studies Fine Arts at the Barcelona University, which would be completed by studies of engraving and ceramics at the same University. After graduating, painter Víctor Pedra travels across Europe to complete his education and starts working in sculpture. Over the years, sculpture would achieve greater importance in his work and at the beginning of the 90s,  Víctor Pedra will do his first large scale sculptures for outdoor spaces.
In the late 1980s, Pedra joins the group of artists of our gallery.

Always restless, he collaborates with sculptor Josep Vilalta Tor designing jewels.
With the change of the century, Pedra decides to change his lave: he stops teaching, leaves Barcelona and settles in a small village of 10 people near the Pyrenees. This will allow him to have much more room for sculptures, which will suffer some changes, as since then he will use any object he finds for them: from an old wheel from a wagon to a gearshift from a tractor.
In 2003 he illustrates for Plaza y Janés a collection of 8 books by Isabel Allende.

Between 2012 and 2013, Víctor Pedra works on hew projects such as the decoration of the floor and the walls of the church of Alberola (Lleida) and his collaboration with Vins de Pedra, the family cellar, designing the labels of their wines.

In 2015 his designs in collaboration with the graphic designer Senyor Estudi for Vins de Pedra were awarded with a Bronze Laus. The Laus awards, organized by the FAD, are among the most prestigious design awards in Spain and have great recognition internationally.
In 2016 Víctor Pedra collaborates with Torrons Alemany (a deluxe sweets company) in the edition of an illustrated box limited to 2.000 unities.  Torrons Alemany has been awarded with the Great Taste Award, one of the most prestigious awards in delicatessen alimentation.
