Vanguardias históricas

Exhibition of historical avant-gardes and the School of Paris in Barcelona.

We finish 1992 with our usual exhibition dedicated to the historical avant-garde and the school of Paris.

The most striking pieces in the exhibition are ‘Verre et pipe’, a small mixed technique on paper by Pablo Picasso and ‘Naturaleza muerta’, an oil on panel from 1928 by Joaquín Torres-García, two important exponents of the historical avant-garde, but we also present works as interesting as ‘Le toquinois’, an oil on canvas by Josep de Togores, painted in Paris in 1920. This was his period of artistic splendour, which led him a year later to join the group of artists of the prestigious art dealer Daniel-Henry Kanhnweiler, the most important of the time, who represented Braque, Picasso, Juan Gris and André Derain, the latter also present in this exhibition with the work ‘Portrait de femme’, painted in 1924.

As usual, the Spanish school of Paris is also present, with works by artists such as Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, Francisco Bores, Óscar Domínguez and Ismael G. de la Serna, as well as two of the members of that generation who are still alive, Antoni Clavé and Hernando Viñes.

On this occasion we have included less common figures that in other avant-garde exhibitions we have presented in our gallery, such as Roger Chastel, Louis Latapie, Edouard Pignon and Claude Vernard. The presence of these artists allows us to offer a broader view of this heterogeneous group of artists.

The exhibition dedicated to the historical avant-garde and the School of Paris in Barcelona can be visited until 31 December.
