Jose Luis Aguilo

We present the first solo exhibition of José Luis Aguiló in our gallery. With the title of “Summa” it’s a selection of his latest works combined with a small representation of paintings from the early 2000s.

Aguiló begins his career in Barcelona, showing his work in galleries such as Trece or Antonio de Barnola. During his career he has exhibited in New York, Tokio or London and has received several grants including the one given by the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation of New York in 2006.

Over the years, his work has become more ascetic, focusing in a succinct abstract painting free of superfluous filigrees  that may distract the viewer and looking for the elemental essence of the painting.
