Eduardo Vega de Seoane

Eduardo Vega de Seoane was born in Madrid in 1953. He begins to study Law at ICADE, but decides to quit in his second year and leaves Spain with the idea of studying cinema, something that leads him in the mid-1970s to live in Denmark, The Netherlands or Sweden, beginning studies in cinema, theatre, art, painting…It is by then when he realizes that what he really wants to do is to paint, so he moves back to Madrid an studies at the Art School Estudio Arjona.

In the summer of 1979 Eduardo Vega de Seoane makes a trip by bus through Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India that will deeply affect his work, inspiring him a sense of freedom that will be key in his artistic evolution.

By the mid-1980s he begins to exhibit regularly, firstly in Madrid, later all over Spain and finally expanding his career with regular group and solo exhibitions through all Europe.

Eduardo Vega de Seoane has always approached painting through color, this is the element that has allowed to express himself and search for a territory of freedom he feels his own. The figurative reference that, sustained by color, appeared in his early works, has slowly disappeared in favor of and expressionist abstraction where color, texture and movement are the key of the compositions

In 2022 Eduardo Vega de Seoane joins the group of artists of our gallery.

Eduardo Vega de Seone frequently takes part in international art fairs such as the ones in Washington, Chicago, Vienna, Cologne, Strasbourg, Morocco, Lisbon or Zurich and in Spanish ones such as Arco, Estampa, Flecha (where he won the prize for the best artists in 2002 2002), Art Madrid or Arte Santander. He also participates in awards and competitions such as the Wellington Foundation, L’Oreal Foundation, Villa de Madrid or José Caballero among many others.
