Jordi Amagat

Jordi Amagat at the Sala Dalmau.

We present a new exhibition by Jordi Amagat at the Sala Dalmau, which brings together a selection of acrylics on canvas, paper, wood, and cardboard that the artist from Les Planes has produced over the last three years. Between 2002 and 2005, Amagat has participated in several exhibitions, both individual and collective, in institutions such as the Fundació Vila Casas, the Museu de l'Empordà or the Casa de Cultura de Girona, and now we are showing his work again in our gallery.

In his painting, Jordi Amagat combines a personal approach to the human figure with metaphysical compositions that shows landscapes, hidden faces, and are populated by impossible vegetation. His pictorial world is based on the avant-garde and delves into his own mysterious universe in which he reflects on the human condition.

Amagat is an artist who works slowly, taking care of all the concepts and details. The treatment of colour is one of the most relevant characteristics of Amagat's work. In his work, he shades it and works thoroughly to convey emotion and beauty, with a range that brings him close to 20th century art deco. Amagat studies the compositions and covers all the shades of the same colour in order to share all the nuances of his painting with the spectator.

The first exhibition of Jordi Amagat at the Sala Dalmau was a group show at the beginning of the 1990s. Since then, his work has undergone a clear evolution, it has become stylised, has lost its hardness and the colour has gained in nuances, but he has maintained a constant dialogue between figuration and metaphysical universes in which he always hides faces and dreamlike worlds.

The current exhibition of Jordi Amagat at the Sala Dalmau can be visited until 30 May.
