{"id":8652,"date":"2018-09-14T11:23:12","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T10:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/?p=8652"},"modified":"2018-09-14T16:09:45","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T15:09:45","slug":"torres-garcia-figari-gurvich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/en\/2018\/09\/14\/torres-garcia-figari-gurvich\/","title":{"rendered":"Los maestros nos visitan: Torres-Garc\u00eda, Figari, Gurvich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"\/?page_id=278\">Our gallery<\/a> has always been very close to Uruguay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Over the years, we have presented several times the works of <a href=\"\/?p=3031\"><strong>Joaquin Torres-Garcia<\/strong><\/a>, their most international artist, as well as the one of his disciples, in exhibitions such as <a href=\"\/?p=3136\">El Taller Torres-Garc\u00eda<\/a> or the different solo exhibitions dedicated to <a href=\"\/?p=3535\"><strong>Jos\u00e9 Gurvich<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"\/?p=2976\"><strong>Alceu Ribeiro<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"\/?p=3556\"><strong>Augusto Torres<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Occasionally, we have also had the pleasure of showing the works of some of their other internationally known artists such as Rafael Barradas or Pedro Figari in exhibitions like the one we dedicated to them alongside Torres-Garcia in <a href=\"\/?p=3094\">1995<\/a>. On that occasion we could see about 15 pieces of each artist, a selection of drawings, watercolors and canvases of each of them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Regarding contemporary art, we also have shown a great interest on the artists of the <em>cono sur: <\/em>artists such as <a href=\"\/?p=5052\"><strong>Juan de Andr\u00e9s<\/strong><\/a>, the sculptor <a href=\"\/?p=3477\"><strong>Pablo Bruera<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"\/?p=6581\"><strong>Mauricio Sbarbaro<\/strong><\/a> are proof of our interest in Uruguay\u2019s current artistic scene.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8655\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/JTG-Barradas-Figari-267x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/JTG-Barradas-Figari-267x300.jpg 267w, https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/JTG-Barradas-Figari-133x150.jpg 133w, https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/JTG-Barradas-Figari-768x863.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/JTG-Barradas-Figari.jpg 808w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 267px) 100vw, 267px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Cover of the catalogue &#8220;Barradas, Figari, Torres-Garc\u00eda&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On September 14<sup>th<\/sup> three exhibitions will open in Montevideo under the title <em>\u201cLos maestros se visitan\u201d<\/em> (The masters visit each other). This will allow seeing the works of Torres-Garc\u00eda, Figari and Gurvich. Each artist will present his work in the other\u2019s museum, therefore, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torresgarcia.org.uy\/\">Museo Torres-Garcia<\/a> will gather Pedro Figari, focusing in the sketches he and his son Juan Carlos did with the idea of creating a series of objects for daily use in the countryside and the city. On the other hand, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.museogurvich.org\/museo\/\">Museo Gurvich<\/a> will offer a unique chance to see together the drawings and sketches that Torres-Garcia did for his book <em>\u201cLa ciudad sin nombre\u201d<\/em> (The city without name). Lastly, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museofigari.gub.uy\/\">Museo Figari<\/a> will present the work of Jos\u00e9 Gurvich in a show that will feature a selection of drawings centered in the city, not only Montevideo, but also New York and the European cities he visited during his short life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It\u2019s an unbeatable occasion to get closer to the art of these three masters, as all the exhibitions will include works and documents unseen that make this event a mandatory visit for anyone in Montevideo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our gallery has always been very close to Uruguay.
