{"id":7728,"date":"2017-12-10T18:34:44","date_gmt":"2017-12-10T18:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/en\/?p=7728"},"modified":"2017-12-10T18:34:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-10T18:34:44","slug":"historical-avant-gardes-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saladalmau.com\/en\/2017\/12\/10\/historical-avant-gardes-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Avant-gardes in Malaga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The city of Malaga, in the south of Spain, has lately become relevant in the international art scenario: <a href=\"http:\/\/fundacionpicasso.malaga.eu\/portal\/menu\/portada\/portada?idioma.cultura.fpicasso=in\">Picasso\u2019s birthplace<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.museopicassomalaga.org\/en\/\"> the Picasso Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/centrepompidou-malaga.eu\/\">the Pompidou<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carmenthyssenmalaga.org\/en\/\">the Carmen Thyssen Museum<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coleccionmuseoruso.es\/\">the collection of the St. Petersburg museum<\/a> have turned this place in a cultural destination.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are two exhibitions closely related to<a href=\"\/?page_id=278\"> our gallery<\/a> line. Besides the Picasso Museum, always close to us due to the exhibitions we have presented of his nephews <a href=\"\/?p=3078\"><strong>J.F\u00edn<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"\/?p=3542\"><strong>Javier Vilat\u00f3<\/strong><\/a>, in this moment you can visit two major shows dedicated to the <a href=\"\/?artistas-categorias=vanguardias-historiques-en\">historical avant-gardes<\/a>, to whom our gallery has always focused.<\/p>\n<p>The Carmen Thyssen Museum presents until February 25<sup>th<\/sup> 2018 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carmenthyssenmalaga.org\/en\/exposicion-actual\">\u201cJuan Gris, Mar\u00eda Blanchard and the Cubisms (1916-1927)\u201d<\/a>. Created in 1907 by Picasso and Brauqe in Paris, cubism was a true artistic revolution in art history. This exhibition focuses on the work of Juan Gris and Maria Blanchard. The former will look for cubism of pure geometrical shapes, flat and colorful, obviating perspective or realistic references, while Blanchard , while coinciding\u00a0 with the desire of purity and synthesis of Gris, presents a work with more dynamic shaped and vivid colors.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition also presents Dal\u00ed\u2019s little known cubist period, and the works of some of the artists we have included in our shows dedicated to the avant-gardes in our gallery such as Jean Metzinger, Joaqu\u00edn Peinado, <a href=\"\/?p=3019\"><strong>Manuel Angeles Ortiz<\/strong><\/a> or Benjam\u00edn Palencia.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the Picasso museum presents until January 28th <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museopicassomalaga.org\/en\/temporary-exhibitions\/women-artists-and-surrealism\">\u201cWe are completely free. Women Artists and Surrealism\u201d<\/a>. The role of women in the world of art has often been undervalued. Often reduced to the one of muses, this exhibition is a necessary representation of their place in surrealism.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Frida Kahlo. Leonora Carrington or Maruja Mallo, this show is a great chance to rediscover the photographs\u00a0 of Lee Miller or the painting of Dorothea Tanning and is interesting to be able to see the work of artists not recognized as they should such and whose work is not easy to see such as Remedios Varo or Unica Z\u00fcrn.
